Strategic analysis applications
The SEMA framework is a framework: it organises in an explicit way a clear and stable perspective on the strategic management of environmental issues. As a framework, however, it does not provide a standard method to study or manage concrete management issues. In-depth analyses and intervention methods have to be developped for specific applications by combining a clear strategic management analysis foundation, relevant field work, and the mobilisation (or design) of appropriate methods and conceptual tools.
The resolute focus on environmental effectiveness provided by SEMA is of particular usefulness in five type of applications:
- the diagnostic of biodiversity conservation situations,
- policy evaluation,
- the analysis of environmental strategies in organisations,
- the analysis of environmental management tools and mechanisms,
- the critique of environmental management doctrines.
